About the event

Have you ever looked into the flame of a birthday candle, or felt the heat of a campfire, and wondered - how does this work?

Combustion has powered our world and kept researchers returning to the lab to understand the science behind it for years. NASA even conducts combustion tests in space to understand the science better and improve safety, and, of course, uses combustion to send rockets into space from Earth.

In this workshop, students ages 7-12 will examine the elements and ratios needed for combustion - the Fire Triangle! Students will get to see experiments of different kinds of combustion, and safely perform combustion experiments of their own!

Don't miss out on this opportunity to better understand our world, and learn about the scientific process!

NASA astronaut Jessica Meir performs work on experiments inside the Combustion Integrated Rack aboard the International Space Station’s U.S. Destiny laboratory module.
